In some countries, in addition to the regional model railway clubs, there are also national clubs dedicated to N gauge. They all aim to promote N gauge and to represent the interests of N gauge model railroaders.
There was increased cooperation between these associations even before I-N-G-A.net. Information of all kinds is exchanged via e-mail. In this way, a faster flow of information is possible. The individual clubs then process the news in order to inform their members.
The idea for I-N-G-A.net came from representatives of Amici Scala N [ASN] and N-Club International [NCI] during the 2nd ASN Firenze Days on April 29, 2001.
The associations N Gauge Society [NGS], Association Française des Amis du N [AFAN] and N Gauge Guild of South Africa [NGGoSA] immediately joined this idea.
In the meantime, Club N de España [CNE], N-TRAK Europe [NTRAK], N Scale Modellers Australia [NSMA], N-Club Finland [NCF] and spur-N-schweiz [sNs] have joined the I-N-G-A.net.
The common goal is to promote the N gauge. This is to be done through increased cooperation between the clubs. The clubs meet more often at trade fairs and exhibitions to promote N gauge together. The autonomy of the clubs remains intact.
During a joint meeting at the Modellbahn-Süd trade fair in Stuttgart on November 20, 2004, the presidents of the clubs present presented the new joint I-N-G-A.net logo. This logo appears on the documents of all clubs involved to show that we are committed to N gauge together.
